Collection: Gimbap

Gimbap, also known as kimbap, is a popular Korean dish made from steamed rice (bap) and various other ingredients rolled in seaweed (gim) and sliced into bite-sized pieces. It is often enjoyed as a convenient and nutritious meal or snack, perfect for picnics, school lunches, or quick meals on the go.

  • Ingredients (for 4 rolls)

    • 1 Seaweed pack
    • 600g 1 Rice
    • Flavored salt
    • Sesame oil
    • Sesame Seeds
    • Cooking oil
    • Pickled radish
    • Pickled burdock
    • Ham
    • 1 bunch (350g) of Spinach
    • 10 eggs
    • 1 carrot
  • Rice

    • Add a pinch of salt and some sesame oil to the cooked rice.
    • Mix thoroughly with a paddle to ensure even seasoning.
  • Spinach

    • Remove the roots from the spinach.
    • Add a small amount of oil to a pan.
    • Cook the spinach with a pinch of salt for seasoning until wilted. Set aside.
  • Carrot

    • Julienne the carrot into thin strips.
    • Coat a pan with oil.
    • Cook the julienned carrot with a pinch of salt until slightly softened. Set aside.
  • Ham

    • Slice the ham into long, thin strips.
    • Add a small amount of oil to a pan.
    • Cook the ham strips until they are slightly crispy. Set aside.
  • Eggs

    • Beat the eggs in a bowl.
    • Add a pinch of salt and some brown sugar to the eggs, and mix thoroughly.
    • Add oil to a pan and cook the egg mixture into thin sheets.
    • Let the egg sheets cool slightly, then slice them into long, thin strips. Set aside.
  • Step 1

    • Place a sheet of seaweed on a bamboo mat (gim-bap roller).
    • Spread the seasoned rice evenly over about two-thirds of the seaweed sheet.
  • Step 2

    • Lay the prepared ingredients (spinach, carrot, egg, ham) in rows on top of the rice.
    • Ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed in the center of the seaweed.
  • Step 3

    • Using the bamboo mat, tightly roll the seaweed and rice over the ingredients.
    • Lightly moisten the end of the seaweed with water to seal the roll.
    • Slice the rolled gimbap into bite-sized pieces and serve.

    • Brush the outside of the roll with sesame oil to add flavor and shine.
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds over the roll.
    • Slice the rolled gimbap into bite-sized pieces and serve.
